Turkey and Syria are counting their dead among the rubble, more than a week after the tragedy. Thousands of people have been left homeless and are enduring low temperatures. The two earthquakes, 7.8 and 7.6 on February 6, left tens of thousands injured.
"People suffer a lot.
Several Syrians use blankets, cardboards and bottles to warm up.
"The needs are huge and are increasing from hour to hour," said Hans Henri P. Kluge, World Health Organization's Director for Europe. "About 26 million people in both countries need humanitarian assistance."
